Handsome, but hardly barren!
The beautiful green moss, alone, houses a unique thriving ecosystem of bacteria, fungi and all sorts of insects that act on the rest of the forest!

Technically not barren or lifeless with the remnants of life discernible with some hunting —— but the overall appearance is what most perceive as barren in our fall and winter landscapes in Ontario.

Just a small creek.

On the right there’s a huge body of water half the size of the forest!
