My World: Flight

Catching a butterfly mid-flap is not an easy task as I can well attest. I did manage a few at the Museum of Natural History's Butterfly Pavaliion in Gainesville, FL,

These butterflies come from all over the world with about 62 species coming from Florida. Here they are being released after emerging from their pupas.

Wow, Chris, these are super cool. I have tried to get a photo of a butterfly in flight that is in focus and don't believe I have one at all. They always seem to be perching on a leaf so I can appreciate how hard it was to get these. Thanks for sharing, they are wonderful!

Yes, they're fascinating. I was so jealous of you for being your keen eyesight and deft cameramanship! I thought, he's a lucky fellow to get those together at one time!

Your next picture, (which I sadly lost for you, of the 50 species of butterflies being released) made me realize that I should check out the local science museums to see when they might be releasing the butterflies here too!

Thanks Magie and Asher. They generally released daily in the larger pavillions. Beautiful they are but a long life span they have not.
