I shot this match with two canon bodies, 1D MKI with 7-200mm and a 1DmkII with 300mm

I don't see much in the way of shadows, but they seem well lit. What's the trick?

I assume you are referring to the exposure, I use the histogram while shooting to ensure that my expose is correct.

I am guessing that the flat lighting means a pretty heavy overcast day. What I am curious about is your iso and shutterspeed. These are nice and sharp.

I try to keep my shutter speed to at least 500 and boost up the iso if needed

Hi Rod, no she didn't get booked. But the girl in the black and yellow in the first photo did get booked for a tackle in the second half and then red carded for mouthing off to the Ref with 5 minutes to go in the match.

The team with the black and yellow won the match with a nice header from a corner kick
