Forster's Tern

After successfully catching a small fish, they turn slightly sideways, and in a shaking motion force the prey into their throats. This happens in the blink of an eye. To catch this shot was just a tad short of a miracle.

Hi, Chris,

I am even more baffled at the lack of response on this image.

A wonderful shot. Thanks so much. Sorry I missed it.

Maybe it was posted the day the lamp went out in our big TV set or something, or the day I had to take Carla to the hospital in Albuquerque.

Best regards,

Doug

Wonderful shot! After my first foray into birding a couple weeks ago with my new Tamron 150-600mm lens I can appreciate how rare a capture like this is and how much work you must have gone through. I assume from your other shots that you are an avid birder, don't think I have the patience for it (I'm too hyper - I always want to be walking around).

Hello Chris,

My apologies! I have been occupied with an exhausting exhibition for weeks, preparing a promised 32 ft high sculpture for delivery and trying to recover photos from exhausted hard drives that failed. But all of these efforts are no excuse for missing beauty that I myself cannot match!

You set the standard for putting us next to you in taking the shot and this is so generous, helpful and admirable! Where is this, the wetlands that you photographed before or actually in open water?

I do not know the habitat or much about the tern, but I appreciate this well defined bird in fantastic natural behavior!
