This is in one of the Buddhist Temples. There are various sects of Buddhism; And different Temples cater to each sect.
I happened to visit a Confucius Temple. In that vein...

About the first one: Was this photographed at night ? Late evenning ?
The man praying: Where the light comes from ? It looks artificial... off camera flash ?
You do have influenced me on shallow DOF and detail !

Antonio,thanks for stopping by.
The first one is a simple curve and mask to balance the exposure.
The second one..now that you have pointed it out..is a bad on me. I had extreme contrast and bringing
It down I forgot about the shadows. My bad.
Both were taken in very bright sunlight.
