I'm interested in the pattern of the long hair around the eyes. This must result from merciless selection, since bears with hair that covered their eyes wold be less competitive in getting prey and in surviving fights. Look at the beautiful directional patterns which swirl the long hair around the eyes.

Now I've seen the result of dogs bread for cuteness and fancy hair. The beautiful, silky-haired Shih Tzu, for example, can have fine hair growing into their eyes, blinding them. So that's what happens when we protect animals and ourselves from the brutality of evolution!

The bear has no one to turn to for food if he cannot get it himself and the result is a fierce and, pretty well, perfect hunter.
