Gathering on a hill

May I ask an obvious question? Why are they gathering on a hill?

Your photo hints at some very interesting scenery - I'm with Jarmo on these.

This gave me shivers, Michael as it reminded me so much of the fireman silhouetted in the New York Twin Towers 9/11 bombing and the men hoisting the flag on Iwo Jima.

Men like this on top of hills against the sky, scare me!

However, you are great at spotting interesting and powerful shots and here is no exception!

Thanks for sharing this particularly well seen moment!

Asher

Sam,

The group gathers after a brewing beer under the guidance of a brewer to obtain their certificates.
I posted a little about brewing the traditional way here (first two posts).

The view is beautiful, here are two more looking over the same hill.

A little to the left (relative to the group's position):

A little to the right (relative to the group's position):

Both were taken on Good Friday.

Best regards,
Michael

Asher,

This is your very own impression.

My goal was to capture the mystic atmosphere accentuated by the clouds and hints of more mountains in the background.

It can also be peaceful.

I love them both, Michael! So meditative!

We have so many wars and my older brain can't help but bring up awful memories from the library. Your work here in these last two pictures is relaxing and allows for reflection.

You must agree, that a collection of young men on a hill is only rarely a group of students of beer-brewing, LOL! This was a most pleasant surprise.

We have so much violence and militarization of police

Asher,

It was meant to be mystic, but not menacing.

The militarization of the police force and the the focus on riot control more than eliminating the reasons for these riots is disquieting, as issues will most likely be resolved by confrontation and not by consensus.

I am grateful for the long peace I could live in until now, but memories of the last war are still vivid as there is still unexploded ordnance found every year, mostly aerial bombs.

It is interesting to see how much some pictures are subject of re-interpretation based on the individual experience of the viewer.

Best regards,
Michael

...

Of course, just what I had guessed (I wasn't even close actually!) ;) Thank you for the update and the extra information.

And the extra photos are very nice too - very much an alien landscape to me, so great to see some more.
