Gerbera revisit

The flowers are ten days old now and still look remarkably fresh. It must be in the genes. This was taken using my Nikon D3, 105mm f/2.8 macro lens, and extension tubes with off camera flash. I like the formation in the center. I don't know what they call those parts but they are nice and symmetrical with pleasing patterns.

Love it

I love this photo. I did not do well in Biology or physiology so I can't answer the questions of the center. They might be the Steman - which I am sure is spelled wrong.

Today I shot 14 preschoolers and put a bunch of daisies in their hands. Euryops kind. I can't show them til I get all the paper work back.

James,

First I must say how satisfying the presentation is! I like the zones of the parts of the flower so created. The center do seem to be the female gynecological apparatus, the stigma and then the next zone has tiny petals with each subtending a male component, the pollen shedding antler. Further out are the rest of the flowers larger petals forming a giant landing platform for the pollinating insects. This is a complex form!
