Green mice

Shhhh! I'm scooping my own paper, so not a word to my editor! With any luck this snap will accompany my article on genetically-modified animals tomorrow. They are mice with a jellyfish gene inserted into their dna so that they glow under blacklight. However, the effect is only visible through an enhancing screen, which is why you see two reflections in the picture (I'm the one on the right holding the camera).

I only got one good shot before I got crowded out by the other photographers and videographers. There's an unspoken heirachy...compacts give way to dSLRs and dSLRs give way to big-ass film television cameras. As I only had my tiny panasonic Lumix FX30 with me I got in and out as quickly as I could before I got trampled. Which reminds me, ladies, have you found a way to carry your dSLRs around without the ugly camera bag it came with?

i and some of my peers have spent *lifetimes* on this search LOL!
mostly i use a black domke shoulder bag when out in the street and shooting events (as opposed to in the field where i spend more time, and then it's a backpack, one of several various sizes).
and yes, big-ass tv crews rule the world!
