Greeting from way down in South Africa

Hiya folks.

My name is Johan and I stay in sunny South Africa. I worked in the IT world for about 10 years, got tired of corporate bull, and finally managed to get into the photographic industry after a long love relationship with photography. About 3 years ago i got my first DSLR camera and since then it has been crazy with upgrades all the time. I currently am fortunate enough to own a Canon 1DsMKII and a variety of lenses.

I got into photography full time when i had an opportunity to purchase a photographic lab, and now with two labs and all kinds of other nonsense I get up to, I try make the most of my time shooting and learning as much as possible, to be the best I can be.

Anyway little story and glad to have found this site, as the input received is fantastic......

Hi Johan,

You are already well on your way here with a good set of model pictures. If you keep at it, Frank Doorhoff will be out of a job! Seriously, you will enjoy the DVD's. There are 3 altogether, I believe.

I somehow think I need a long way to go to get uncle Frank outta a job.....If ever actually. I am really impressed with the respect shown on this forum to new members and just the general "calm" tone in which posts seem to be made.....makes such a welcome difference.

I ordered 2 ok Franks DVD sets, just need to slap a few postal workers around the ear's......you know how we all get impatient when we want our toys ....j/k of course !!

I would like to welcome you too Johan. It's great to see new members coming on board that I can potentially sponge more knowledge from. I also enjoy adding to my growing group of international photo pals. There is no place else that I would be able to interract with people from South Africa, France, the Netherlands, the Middle East, and all of the other far away and wonderful locations represented here in this one forum. It has helped this Texan expand his universe. Welcome.
