Grey-throated sunbird (Anthreptes griseigularis)

The grey-throated sunbird (Anthreptes griseigularis) is a species of bird in the Nectariniidae family. It is found in a wide range of semi-open wooded habitats in the northern and eastern part of the Philippines. It is often considered a subspecies of the brown-throated sunbird, but the two differ consistently in measurements and plumage, and there is no evidence of intergradation between them.

Amazingly colored, like a lilac or lavender blossom. I am still so fascinated by plumage patterns and colors. It's so counterintuitive to be so noticeable when there are so many hunters soaring above, ready to dive down for the kill.

I guess that mating trumps safety!

Beautiful! Great detail in the feathers, with the sharpening done just right (feathers are easy to over-sharpen!).

Love seeing these species that are totally unfamiliar to me.
