Sunday, February 15, 2015 marks the first death anniversary of mother. This also marks the break of my photography fast. I commit to craft photos more than once week here on end.

The Guaiabero (Bolbopsittacus lunulatus) is a species of parrot in the Psittaculidae family, belonging to the monotypic genus Bolbopsittacus and closely related to the lovebirds (Agapornis) and hanging parrots (Loriculus). It is endemic to the Philippines. Its common name is derived from its reputation for eating guavas.

My condolences, Paola, on the loss of your deer mother. Your love of nature means that you were given a good start in life!

You do make generous introductions for this parrot! Are you an ornithologist or scientist or you just like naming things correctly?

One cannot help but be enthralled with such a beautiful image. The bird is so much more interesting as it is doing something. Your picture shows something quite exotic and I like that!

Paolo,
Glad you're up and about with your camera.
Your self imposed? layoff reminds me of when I was in Fiji - the local chief had just died and there was a qoliqoli or tabu placed on the lagoon, no fishing or even diving for a year.

This is a gorgeous shot of a beautiful little bird. It look a bit like our Australian Musk Lorikeet which is tiny and usually quite elusive.

I am also sorry for your loss.

Beautiful bird - I love the blue highlights around its head, providing an interesting contrast to the green.
