Here's a snap I took on my phone of three youths at 1.30 am outside a night club in Zhengzhou, China...you can guess the story here

That is just terrible. And so very universal. I could take a similar picture any time of any day in any Finnish town. Just hate seeing people in that state.

Thank you folks for your comments and pictures. Yes it is part of life that is disturbing and all too common in many places. I have my reservations about making this picture and posting it. I cant justify making pictures of this nature in the future unless it were to be a part of a series.

Best,regards
James

I don't see anything wrong with you taking these guys pictures. They are perfectly happy for you to take they're picture...they probably don't even give a *hit.
I look at your photograph in a positive way, in the fact that if it were to be recognised, and to stir someone or a faction of people into caring and doing something to help these folk then it will have been well worth it. It all starts with one image and sometimes one image is all it takes...and for me, that image must be taken.

Thank you for that Paul...much appreciated!

I too agree with Paul. I think it is a lovely shot and their seems to be no resistance from the man smiling at the camera. Some of the world's greatest photographers have catalogued misery, poverty and unpleasant circumstances such as war zones (Don McCullen springs to mind initially but there are others) . Isn't it one of roles of art to bring things to our attention?

Nothing to apologise for

This is sad, but we need to tell the story as a duty to each other. The camera serves then as a lantern to show us the condition of out societies.

In this light, kudos on these pictures, tragic as it is!
