Harvey, A Portrait @ 3 yrs

Paul Abbott

I hadn't taken many images of Harvey of late, it's been almost a year since the last. Although, my other half has taken her fair share of images of him with the family 'compact' camera, so he has still been represented that way. - He turned 3yrs last November.

I shot this about 2 hours ago in available light, this afternoon.

Thank you both, very much.

You know what? I am very thankful to have captured him this way, this afternoon. Also, because of the fact that my camera has sat idle, alongside myself, in using it for sometime.

Here is another portrait.
He's a good and willing subject, I had directed him for this, as with the previous shot. He'll only keep the pose for so long though.

Pentax DA35mm f2.8 Macro @ f2.8. Split-toned.

Nice Paul. Always a joy to have pictures of your children.

In the second in particular you are clearly very close to Harvey and theperspective makes it appear that his head and hands are balanced on anothers, much smaller, arms.

I like the toning.

Paul,

Has he shared with you his views yet on "who's actually in charge"? Do you have your special routines with him?

I love the pose. We are really up close and those eyes and smile are so cheeky and show a lot of patience and humor. This view maybe calls for a tilt/shift lens or LF camera!

What can I say Asher, he knows who is in charge but he'll always push his luck from time to time. He is a good little boy on the whole, he just likes to squeeze me for the last of my lollipops! :)

The special routine when it comes down to photographing him is 'bribery'. ;)

The lenses and camera you mention I can only dream of at the moment.
