Hi Folks

Been into Photography for about ten years. Started with an instamatic then progressed to a Minolta and on to a Canon EOS 3. Built a dark room in the attic and played about with black and white printing. Then into digital, Canon D30 then D60, D1s and now D1 Mk11s. Currently finishing an HNC qualification in Photography which I started two years ago when I got stuck with various technical issues that I couldn’t resolve on my own. No regrets.

Nice to be here.

PDF

Hi Ray

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, PDF is a great way of sending information and publicising yourself. You can get a large amount of information in a small file and cover all aspects of what you do. I also find it a good way of sending copies of work done, to clients for there information and choice. Sorry if I am stating the obvious.

All the best

Hi Rick,

Is it pretty important to have formal training in photography in the U.K.? Here, a guy arrives with a portfolio and a reputation!

How much of a benefit is the certificate, or is it hte training that is an efficient way of climbing the ladder?

Welcome to OPF! Hope you will share your images and participate! glad to have you.

I'm esepcially looking for interesting shots of Coventry and its famous Cathedral.

Coventry, well I'll be........

Hi Rick.....imagine you living in Coventry.......I'm a Leicestershire lad myself, spent my early years in Wigston.

Small world eh? Cheers, Dean.

Hi Asher

No, it’s not important to have formal training in photography over here but at times it can help. The UK has become qualified obsessed with certification etc. In some ways it also helps you build up your portfolio and a reputation by allowing you access to situations and equipment that on your own may be difficult to obtain. For me, as I explained in my reply, it was more to do with technical issues, mostly studio photography that I found hard to get my head around with no studio or lights. I have to say that I am a better photographer for doing this qualification and feel that my standard has grown as I have moved through the course.

I have lots of interesting shots of Coventry and will get around to posting some in the near future.

Thanks for the interest
