Hello from Oxfordshire UK

Hi folks,

I'm Bob and reside in north Oxfordshire. I've been snapping away for close to 40 years and now focus on macro and wildlife but I'm willing to try anything if the situation arises....I retired a few months back and hope to have more time to broaden my horizons.
Most of my stuff focusses on the technical side as I appear to be devoid of any artistic genes.
I use Canon gear and possess full-frame and crop bodies with prime lenses but retain the odd zoom for ad hoc usage..

I hope to tap into the wealth of experience that resides around here.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to another Britisher. Don't believe what you tell yourself about lack of artistic genes. Do you find beautiful creatures boring? Does a billowing cloud over a meadow of sheep make you yawn? What about a child chasing butterflies or glistening bubbles? In all cases, you and I will pay attention and get a thrill. That''s what beauty is about and being artistic merely is to remove the messy distracting crap out of the scene!

So I look forward to seeing your pictures, even if you just think of them as technical!

Don't worry about perfection! When that happens, the beauty has been killed!

Hi Bob,

Welcome to OPF. Don't worry about the lack of artistic genes. I have learned here in OPF that if it makes you look/think twice, any picture is a piece of art even if it was not intended as such by the maker. So we will eventually find out that some of your pictures are actually art.

Just relax and start chatting and sharing some pictures. No obligations except for being nice to others.

Cheers,

I love the Oxfordshire name, sounds so exotic, the closest I get is from the breed of two dogs we had in my hose hold when I was a kid, Airdale Terrier and they came form where you are -I guess--. Where I am, names are more like Cochabamba and Chuquizaca...

Thanks for the welcome everybody.....
I've posted a few of this summers garden birds in the wildlife forum but, having been suffering from my inaugural slipped disc over the past two months, haven't had the chance to go further afield.
