Hello from the Garden of Ely

Hi, My name is Roger and I live in the “Garden of Ely.” That is our name for Ely, Minnesota. Ely is located 100 miles north of Duluth Minnesota in the lakes country. I have been an avid photography enthusiast for over 50 years, doing some professional work but mostly as a hobby. I really started out with a 4 X 5 speed Graphic, shooting for my high school year book. I also worked for a wedding photographer shooting 4 X 5 color transparencies which were used for dye transfer prints. I am now using 2 Nikon backs and sharing lenses. A film back and a D-50 back. I am the secretary of a newly formed digital club called the Digital Capture Club. This club has monthly contests with specific subjects. The idea is to help each other improve our digital photography techniques. Our judges are professionals. I use a number of computer photo editing programs and am currently trying to learn Photoshop CS.

Welcome Roger!

We have, in large part, photographers who earn a living full time from photography. Some times they vanish on shoots! We have enthusiasts who are serious about meeting the same high standards.

There are a lot of OPFers who have returned to their longstanding love after earning a living and supporting a family.

This makes up the OPF community.
