Hi,
I have something you might find interesting. My daughter and I have a small craft business here in So. Fla., where we do woodcarvings , mostly wildlife, dogs, cats, birds etc. We had been doing an outdoor show at a local marina, where people are encouraged to bring along their pets for the evening. On seeing our work people began asking us to do carvings of their individual dogs. So I would carve a piece in the desired breed of dog and my daughter would paint it from a photo to match the coloring and markings. Because we work from photos we were able to also do dogs from the past, even childhood pets as well as as gifts for others. The response was very rewarding. We have just started a website "www.woodenartbylandl.com" and have included a page to show some of the dogs we have done and allow us to expand our service. Now people can send or e-mail us a photo and get back a replica of their dog. We are looking for input or suggestions on how to improve on this idea. Please let us know what you think. Larry

Hi Larry,

We are a photography forum. You are welcome to post photographs that are designed to have artisitc value in themselves. If you make a painting from your own work, that's one thing.

However, your post is an advertisement, nothing else! So I'm not going to delete this yet, just in case you have interest in photography that is real and has the end as art. The fact that your daughter paints the carving to match a photograph is intriguing. However, this is just a commerical enterprise and would be best posted on a forum that deal with hobbies or wood carving.

If you want to show one of your own painted carvings derived from your own photographs, post this one pair only.

Then we'll consider this again.

Asher
