hi, my names daniel and i sort of have taken a big dive into photography.
Anyyways, I recently went out and took some pictures of my neighborhood, and I'm looking for some feed back.

for example, are there any techniques you recommend to further improve my photo taking abilities?
I used lightroom 1.3 to edit and process all these pictures.

any tips or suggestions would be highly appreciated!!
thank you!

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to OPF.

I see that you are in Sherman Oaks. There are some very good classes at Pierce College you might look at taking or David Skernik teaches at the Learning Annex in Chatsworth. There are some great books on composition. I can hear David (I took Beginning Photography from him about 7 years ago) saying "What is that a picture of?" I am not sure what the sujbect is. The traffic signals are just cut off.

My first question would be what are you using for camera and lenses?
Second is Practice, Practice and more practice.

i'm using a D80 with a 18-135mm. f/3.5..'
the subject of that paticular picture was the clouds. i was just trying to show how violent the winds were.

how did you figure out sherman oaks?

Sherman Oaks

The telltale street sign was a part of the composition. I know the Valley well having lived in Sherman Oaks for some part of my childhood and in Encino/Tarzana for 20 + years of my adult life.
