Hi all!!!

Hi all! I've been browsing the forum since yesterday and am enjoying what I see. I am currently just beginning in the wonderful business end of photography and hope to learn & share with all of you as time goes on. Thanks for having me.

To see some of my work-my style-my love visit either of my web pages (I'm hoping to upgrade my website soon, I'll share the new and improved when I do)-

Hi Heather,

Welcome here, hope you have some fun. I liked your modern art stuff, in particular. Could you please indicate what part of the world is blessed with your presence - I don't think I could see any clue on your website?

In opf, we have folk from all over, maybe even other planets, and it helps when you post something that you think is unusual, which may be common elsewhere. We do not want anything other than country - but county may mean something also, we do not want lists of equipment in sigs, etc.

Best wishes,

Ray

Ho! and BTW welcome on board Heather!

Thank you

Thanks for the nice comments and Nicolas for answering the location question. I'm going to try and update the website with that info too-now that I realize it's not there.

Hi, Ray,

Wow. I must have missed that memo. Do you mean something more specific than country is not appropriate, or just not "required"?

Hi Doug,

I am not sure it is anything 'official', but as you know we are not all in the USA. Also within USA, I think that folk living in, say Texas, may view things differently than those in Alaska. I think, since you have left off the last bit of my quote, that maybe you didn't realise the difference, thought maybe I made a typo (as if I would ;-) re country and county. I guess in USA it is 'state', not county.

So in my case, you can say, ah, I can see he is from UK, so is unlikely to know much about baseball. Then if later you note 'Somerset', you may see that folk from there know little about anything (I'm not sure about folk from the USA Somerset).

It generally does not matter, but when it comes to discussions re local marketing, how much to charge for a wedding, say, then it is critical, imho. It also helps, if in mid conversation, someone disappears for eight hours or so before replying to a post.

So I suppose, I am asking folk to mention, their country and state/locale/county/region then that is nice, possibly useful, maybe essential. You can do it in your 'profile page'. But list of gear in your sig, opens a whole new can of worms (which has been discussed in the past) (Oh, and not being in USA, the postal abbreviations for state names or whatever it is, mean nothing to me)

If you are peripatetic, then just continent or planet will have to do. I think you can set this in your 'profile page'

Best wishes,

Doug
