Hi everyone, this looks like a great forum. I've been a member of photo.net for some years, and still enjoy it, but have recently found some good discussion/answers here with some web searches so signed up.
I've been taking pictures for over 40 years, mostly of climbing and back-country skiing trips. In the mid 80s I had access to a top notch color darkroom where I finally really felt like an artist. I let photography rest for a few years and got into video as a creative outlet, but digital finally caught up to film and I gladly transitioned and haven't looked back.
I'm looking to retire from 30+ years of elementary school teaching in another year and plan on devoting more time and effort into my photography and hope to at least make as much as I spend. To this end I recently bought an Epson 7900 (with the $1000 rebate still available) which will enable me to print some of my panoramas on canvas thus avoiding the prohibitive cost of framing and mating such large pieces. I've had a web site for some years and printed on a 2200, but this is a big step forward and I'm going to be joining lots of discussions about the business of Fine Art Photography, and large format printing.
