Wow, great shot, amazingly fast shutter speed and aperture combination. I like how the background is present, but not attention-grabbing.

Doug,

This is an impressive bird. Where were you placed to get this shot. What was the setup that allowed you to get this shot?

I normally don't like close crops but it works to dramatic effect here. The extra reach of the x1.6 multiplier of the 20d really helped here with the 135 mm focal length. Even then I'm surprised at how close you have framed the bird. It's almost as if it flow up against a hole in the page and smashed against it. I like the wide fanning of the tail feather in this shot as it appears that the bird would otherwise crash through the page. Any siblings to this picture?

Thanks for sharing!

Asher

BTW, I have PM'd you about signature placement suggestions to allow the full beauty of your work to be experienced, unhindered. :)

A very successful intimate flight shot, where the signature could be less intrusively placed. Must have been quite close to get this framing at 135mm!

Thank You.
I am very partial to this very tight shot. Close enough to feel the rush of the wings as it past over.

this is extremely impressive!
the clarity is so fine and I especially love the colors-wow-ee
I love birds though I never photograph them-
especially these big birds- the look in his eyes is the the very elegance of a raptor
you were so lucky! to get so close to such beauty
great capture!!

I love the golden light here. I am also not generally a fan of close ups shots like this, but this shot does have a lot of impact for me. Well done.
