India birds: Kutch Gujrat

I visited Kutch; a desert district in the western Indian state of Gujarat, this past summer. The intent was to get photos of as many bird species as possible. In addition to birds, we got lucky and ran into a variety of wild animals as well.

The first few shots for today are an Indian Hawk called the "Shikra".

Hi Vivek,

My first sight of this raptor. How did you post process the images; from RAw or in camera jpg? I ask since the images appear a little flat, perhaps. The are in actuality dimensional but is that optimum as yet? Any change is contrast with curves and any sharpening?

These are minimally processed; my pp skills are that of an amoeba and I am in the process of learning PSCS3. While that endeavor is progressing slowly due to work and family commitments, I am using LR to basically tweak them a little before posting.

That's fine! The sin is usually that guys over-sharpen the feathers.
