Now I wonder, is he doing this just to be "different" - i.e. to lug a trailer of a camera around behind his SUV in order to make huge (but apparently non-composed) prints on-location? Or is it genius?
I am a bit undecided. It certainly is different, and in the world of art, if you can find a different medium / mechanism to express yourself with, I think that is great. But I leave it to you to decide whether you like his work, or not.
Using massive cameras is certainly nothing new, but perhaps using massive cameras to make haphazard, strange compositions and exposures are. With him telling the story around his strange childhood and the physical impediment he had, maybe it also provides interesting insight into his psychology?
