Had a nice weekend camping with some of my coworkers, I managed to get some 4x5 shots while hiking with the group.

the star shot is 2 hours at f8, 90mm

Hi Daniel,

I am impressed that you can take 4x5 pictures while hiking with you colleagues, they must be very patient, huh? ;-)

I am puzzled by the starry scene, why does the curvature of the star trails change halfway? Has it got to do with the characteristics of the lens you've used?

Cheers,

Thanks for the replies :)

Cem, yes I think the star shot has some distortion from the wide angle lens I was using. I was not expecting this to happen, I don't really like the distortion to much, but it might be making the image a bit more interesting than just straight lines or perfect arching lines? I'm not sure :) I do know that I will be trying some more of these shots in the future!

Daniel: I love Joshua Tree and used to go there often when I lived in Claremont and Pomona. Unfortunately, all my shots are on film. I did a few night shots too. These are neat, especially the first. This particular rock formation is something out of Dante's inferno.

PS the sky looks like you used an orange filter.

all of these a very excellent shots and black and white images are stunning-
my favorite
is the star shot
looks very much what "The Black Hole does to galaxies"
the huge swirling mass-that eventually sucks in dying or dead stars- a vacum cleaner of sorts-
