The colourful rhyolite mountains of Lónsöræfi in southeast Iceland. For the complete series of photographs, go here.

The 3 plans act like 3 big strokes of paint on the canvas: from the more peaceful (short grass) to the most tormented and sterile (dry earth). No trace of real life (the small waterfall that seems too straight to be honest-natural), a tiny road where nobody drives. This is a very powerful image to me, very sharp, beautiful....

PS: I really love this one on the blog....

"Wider view of reindeer on the steep mountain slope"

Rajan,

I saw your name on the thread and though...'mmm, this should be good'

No disappointment, another quality offering. Quite arresting.

Sandrine: A shaft of rays suddenly appeared and lighted up the reindeer on that strip of the slope. I quickly took the shot.

Andy: the actual sights are magnificent, a minefield for photographers. I did not have much time to do justice to the location since fog was fast moving in and we had to head back down.

Sandrine has described the tricolor image well. This picture is bold, but the picture that we really should see here is the wide view of the reindeer. That's exceptional!

I hope you will post that too!
