Least Chipmunk

I was able to get off 2 frames before it hightailed it away. Taken in Yellowstone at the end of September. Canon 1D Mk II N and Sigma 100-300 f/4. C&C always welcome.

Steve, beautiful little subject.

The light appears to be primarily coming from behind and somewhat to the right of the chipmunk, but there is also some light to fill the shadow areas. The chippy was jumpy, so I doubt you had time to position a reflector. Did you use flash as fill, or perhaps snow on the ground reflected some light? In any case, the balance of the light here is wonderful.

Steve Robinson - Least Chipmunk

Well, I must admit to being ignorant of the title "Least" Chipmunk. Now I see this is a species of N. American chipmunk that has a small body and 3 brown stripes. It certainly is smart and cute. I like that you got it in action and that the hard-edged cone complements its soft form.

Good job and "hello Chipmunk"!

Thanks Tom and Asher. Tom, I didn't use any fill flash l although I did add a little fill in LR3. There was probably a little reflected light from the built up stone around the point where I was standing. Otherwise what you see is what I got.
