In Perspective, Planet: London's Statues & Monuments #40 & #41

These two statues are very hard to photograph in an interesting way, and so I hope i've created a little more than I would with just a straight shot.

Henry Irving, an actor above all others...? And Queen Victoria and company...

Interesting in that the artist also tries to make representations as do actors! This brings him down to earth!

Now her regal majesty might look askance at her somewhat more approachable and imperfect royal replacements. For sure she would be saying, "We are not amused!" if she glanced back at the giant murals of them all!

Hey Asher, it is all a bit of a jolly show really, touche...:)

I'm pretty sure ol' Lee Friedlander had a great time mixing things up and photographing his American Monuments. There is some humour in his work too...:)

Here is another...#39 The main man himself, Lord Nelson. The glass in the doorways seems to have magnified his stature on that plinth and brought him a whole lot closer...:)

A very unnatural looking horse, and it was said so back in the day of it's unveiling; Country Life magazine noted that the hind legs were in the position for urinating...

Paul these are wonderful studies. If I may, perhaps a little contrasty which, in some instances, robs the images from shadow detail. Other than that minor complaint, great work!

I live in London and it has never occurred to me to photograph all he mayor Monuments like you have so... well done!!!

Thanks, Ivan. No worries about your comment concerning the contrast...I do try to limit that so I take on-board what you say. :)
What started me out in photographing these monuments was the work of Lee Friedlander with his 'American Monument', series of images. I love his photographs, they defy the norm and provide lots of inspiration to me...:)

Regards...
