My World: Looking across..

Nowadays, I spend my time looking thru my image archives. Sometimes, one bonds with some equipment. It is like a shirt or suit..one begins to prefer it over others, no reason, just something in there..

Same with me and a lens I have. It is a 50mm, standard focal length. I just believe I make better images with it than with the others...

Fahim,

Most people don't really exploit and enjoy what they already have! I tell my wife when she wants to go shopping again, "Shop from your closet!"

(However, then when she has something on, I've never seen before, she responds to my questioning stare with, "Oh this? I've had this for years. It was in the back of my closet!")

Most of us have some the best pictures forgotten in some shoes box or stored hard drive. However, at that time, it missed something of the power and presence of the place because we looked at the LCD instead of waiting for the film to come back from the processing lab. In this days, we were so happy with our Kodachromes since the rich colors enhanced our fading memories. Today we see pictures too fast, and that's not really fair to the pictures!

I guess it's like finding one person pleases you over others. little nuances make your natures mesh. A 28 mm Zeiss lens has an anterior lateral curvature of the focal plane and a look that's very different from a perfectly fine Canon 28mm lens! Some will go for the Zeiss even though it's MF. One gets sort of engaged and married to a great lens!

The 50mm is also my favorite. It allows details of outside scenes and makes for an impressive portrait lens. The field of view approximates human vision. I like the 50mm focal length too and most of my work is done with one lens, the 50mm 1.2L Canon lens, and yes, wide open it has CA!!

Where was the picture taken? Seems like either a billionaires estate or else highly cultivated rice fields with a great irrigation system. Something the Mayans did when their Empire flourished!

It was cold. Very misty in places. I was up early. Followed the winding road...

Not only did the road meander, there were steep elevations. Gradients, at places, was surprisingly steep for vehicles..and me..

At last..a place I would be invited for tea!!

Oooh this one too. Those mountains in the background call to me somehow.
