I hate to write a lot on Fahim's work, because then no one follows, LOL! However I'd like to point out something I consider special.
This picture shouldn't work as well as it does. After all the person is going right to left! The way we think of being "forward" is generally the opposite direction! This picture cannot be flipped and made more impressive and memorable. But why?
The strong curved path with the fresh tire tracks, hooking clockwise, may be the answer! I feel this is what energizes this picture moving our eyes to the right. Then this lone figure in sneakers, backpack with monopod appears from the right. We naturally scan a scene for risks, opportunities and potential sources of danger. So naturally, the well travelled curve from the left catches out attention first. The person, however, follows a goal in
his/her own direction,
against the clockwise movement. That seems purposeful. This is now not a walk, but a solitary mission and we can identify with that! So what we thought of as ordinary is perhaps more dynamic and worth recognition. Thanks Fahim for sharing.
