Two steps below us when we were rushing to see "Woman in gold", there was a really vicious young couple. She saw the camera. I breathed my email and forgot about it.

Arriving home, was her email...she needed new pictures!

Stunning model and very nice shot. I see you are using your A7R a lot and seem to really like it.

I was fascinated to see your description of first encountering Kirstie as part of a "really vicious" couple. I'd enjoy knowing just what you mean my that.

And I'm so glad that your fabled "chick magnetism" is still working at full potency!

I hope we get to see more of Kirstie.

I cannot remember, now, LOL, what I actually typed. It could have been "gracious" or "precious", but these are now guesses and make me worry again about the value of testimony by human beings!

Hey Asher with respect, I don't think this is a very flattering shot of your subject. The light is unbalanced and doesn't look right. Those hands are a problem for me too, just clipping off her fingers like that creates a dissonance. From what I have read about portraiture, hands are so very important when photographed, if they are in the shot they need to be well composed, and in doing so they can offer a nice dynamic...

The value of this group is that we can say the truth! That's only from trusting friends. Otherwise we'd get flattery. I did not post this as a portrait, just an introduction to how I met a new collaborator. Yes all your points are so valid. Antonio Correia would never have hands like that, (for him all hands are posed in novel ways to balance the picture), and August Sander would roll in his grave, but anyway, he did not show sentiment. But this is Kirstie and exactly how she sat down after she put on clothes.

Still, I do appreciate the gentle dig in the ribs to keep me on track!

Not to ‘ flatter ‘ you on the technical aspects of your photography, but to simply state that the presentation was riveting...as far as I am concerned.

There might, or might not be, trespasses of so called ‘ rules ‘ of portraiture.

For me the question shall always be:

Does it get my attention.
Does it force me to spend time on the subject.
Who, what could be the story behind the capture.

Those are,imho, the essence of a good photograph.

Your presentation meets my criteria more than admirably.

But then again, I am not a student of design in arts, but a student of what moves the heart and then far far below...what moves the mind.

Well done.

I invest a lot of time in the woman I photograph to know their lives and their journeys. It is part of the rewards of that I get to be able to photograph them a lot and in some cases, they make friends with my wife. Kirstie, for example has taken the chore of driving me hours to an from far flung factories, small industrial specialist shops and fabrication plants as I build my sculpture projects.

She was there when I had a heart attack and stayed till my wife took me to hospital. When we had an opening for potraits of her, my wife joined me at the party.

Now there are really great photographers who use young models, but have zero knowledge of their personal lives. Richard Learoyd, one of my heroes, from the U.K, has no interest in anything but the pose and obeisance to his "look"!

I 'm curious to see other photos of her. It was pleasing to see how she came into your life and that she has been a part of it. And for sure, your portrait does not look like an Antonio portrait... and surely it should not, as you are not he.

Technically, there seems to be a bit of over exposure on this, but reading what you wrote, this was not your actual shoot, this is after and a quick introduction to her. Show us more!

Thanks for your kind words.

I do not care about rules. I can have a rod seeming to come out of someone's head, the picture out of focus or a limb missing. If I like it, it stays. However, chances are it would not survive a final pick for printing! That is such a major commitment and likely as not the image is exceptional or else it is pointless to print it and have it fail to compete for precious wall space!

Wendy and I were going to a movie at Westwood Mall. Behind me was a laughing couple and the girl and our eyes met. I asked if I could photograph her and said my email as fast as I could as we reached the top of the escalator.

Well by the time my wife had purchased our movie tickets, Kirstie has sent the text, "Yes! Yes!"

I have lots of pictures and a series for a show that are nude and will post too.

First more images from my new Fuji GFX and then will images from our work together.

Bump in the middle of the night!

I will post more of Kirstie. She’s my right hand in my studio and driving me to distant fabrication houses for my steel sculptures. She makes subjects at ease and makes sure I take a rest in between subjects!

When I had a heart attack, she insisted in staying with me until my wife came home! she is a treasure and is especially nurturing to couples and models.
