Ruben Alfu: Mimetism

Ruben,

An amazingly unique and beautiful shot! I only see one mimetism floating by, but, (likely as not), if there's one, there could be thousands: that's what people don't realize when one's alone!

I would take careful notes on where you stood and the time of day and then look up the angel of the sun in the tables and be sure to try to repeat this amazing composition with no ghosts. As a start, you know where you were standing, the pictures must be time-stamped and the shot details are in the EXIF!

This is great stuff, albeit with just one "folk" visible!

Thanks Asher! Would you elaborate a bit on this? I'm not sure that I'm getting it

Rocking color and construction of this image. I don't however get the title. Perhaps you could provide some context that would help?

Ruben,

I'll give it a try! :)

A mimetism is a "being" that can obscure its appearance to us by any trick of scent, color, shape, pose, pattern and the like. A chamelon can do that and blend in with surroundings. A fly can mimic a stinging wasp and so get protection. So, if people can do that, then human mimetisms could be totally invisible to us. Imagine that. I did when I experienced and got immersed in your suggestive world with the title "Mimetism". I bought it! So being in that world now, perhaps there are many more such hard to notice people, moving around us, when we think we're alone. Your picture might be one that's in transition between it's invisibility "cloak" and apparent ordinary "passer by".

Hi Chris, thanks for commenting! The title comes from how the man's dress resembles the design of the building's walls which I admit it´s not too evident in the photo and perhaps I was a little bit carried away in my after the fact interpretation of the image.

Thanks Ruben. On closer examination (and knowing what to look for) I can see it. Either I need a bigger monitor or better glasses.
