Hi Damien,

I have fixed the url of your image in your post as it wasn't showing. You have entered a link/URL to a page which shows an image. What you should do instead is to link to the URL of the image itself, which will end in ".jpg". Please read this thread for more info on this.

Cheers,

Excellent - thank you for that! I keep on forgetting the hows and whatnot of posting images

Here's the Landmark Tower through a giant ferris wheel that I could not fit into... how embarrassing....

Hi Damien,

Thanks for sharing these. Japan is at the top of my list of must visit places and it is always good to see pictures of it. However, you'd really do us a favor if you'd consider posting bigger images (for instance 600-800 pixels wide), these are way too small to see them properly and to comment on them. So how come you could not fit into that ferris wheel? Intriguing! lol.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Apologies for the small size, these photos were taken with an old camera (Kodak C310) several years ago (2007) and are stored somewhere on my old computer (that was hit by a bus and mostly still works - long story) - also I am accustomed to posting this size pictures on forums (had some not so nice experiences elsewhere when i did go larger).

I will see what I can do.

I could not fit in the ferris wheel car because basically to quote a former colleague who translated the sign for me:

"You are too fat for the ferris wheel" - Found out much later that it was because I was too tall (6'5)

No apologies necessary, I understand :). The translation part is hilarious, it can be added to the Engrish.com site.

A funny translation indeed except that my colleague was Canadian and what he said was deliberate, this became a running theme of our working relationship (3 years until he moved to China).

The actual irony of this is that I am too tall to fit in an enormous ferris wheel!

Damien,

I'd love to see these pictures much larger, if that's comfortable for you. These are so dependent for their meaning not only on the architectural outlines, but also on the great detail that must be there. If these were 1000 or 1200 pixels wide, they would be glorious and also I personally promise to study and enjoy them and so will other folk here.

Now that I have a better camera - heading back to Yokohama is not a big problem (just 30 mins away) - I can try this again.

I agree with Cem, Japan is one of my must see destinations before I die, although I hope to visit a few times before that. Your photos of Japan certainly remind me of that. I look forward to seeing more, especially Tokyo and its architecture.
