Monterey Paintbrush

Here's a picture of a Monterey paintbrush (Castilleja latifolia), from Sunday, at Point Lobos.

I saw this paintbrush, liked the way it looked, and thought that I'd like a nice picture of it for my two closest friends (because they both went to Castilleja High School, and this is a common local specie of Castllleja).

This was made with a Canon 1Ds Mark II and a 180 f/3.5 macro lens, wide open.

I hope you enjoy it.

Mike,

Excellent work, man. The narrow plane of focus graces just the tips of your subject, and the result is enjoyable indeed.

I should add that this picture does highlight the value of the the unique 180mm f 3.4 Macro lens. Is there a better lens for this purpose? Perhaps not.
