Few more shots from the Eagle nest. Had a Coopers Hawk buzzing rather bravely around the Eagles nest. You can see the Eagles are upset in photo#1...Blurry object at bottom of pic is the Hawk swooping in!

Shots were taken 7:30 -8:45 a.m. in the morning,

1 Eagle eye as a coopers hawk buzzed by.. (blurry object at the bottom)

Eric,

Why would the Cooper's Hawk take such a risk? Is it just that the Hawk has a nest nearby and wants to alert the Eagles to it's territory close by? Or is it that the Eagles simply cannot accurately pounce from the perched position?

Hi Eric,
The expression on their faces (if eagles can have expressions) is priceless!
I love the way you show us these magnificent creatures in their everyday lives, rather than some static shots of large birds on a limb.
It's a testament to your patience and perseverance.
Well done!

Asher...I wondered the same thing. Every time I go to the nest to photograph the Eagles A coopers Hawk will show up and even land in the same tree! There are 4 Coopers Hawks I have located in the area so i imagine they are looking for a tree to nest in. I can assure you it wont be in this tree!!! LOL
