Fahim,

We think of such sights as tragedies. One child stares past the other and she looks at as, as if we are the guilty ones, an excellent photograph, indeed! The children, among the trash of a habitation, appear to be impoverished. Is that is so, then this is not your world, but where your empathies are. This might also be a source for us re-evaluate our priorities and national policies.

Nonetheless, looking closely, the children are neither under-nourished nor inadequately clothed. in fact, they could be perfectly brought up children who wandered off, got themselves dirty and now are caught and so their faces and expressions. Such pictures without words can be inaccurate. Still, I'd go for the immediate reaction of tragedy, since likely as not, that's what you are bringing to us.

Good Afternoon Asher.

I admire your reasoning, choice of words and the effort you bring to understand, and succintly

convey what a poster might have been trying to achieve. I wish I could do that.

The children are neither malnourished, nor living in poverty ( the way we generally understand it ).

But the children ( Northern most Nepal ) and their people have a very very hard life. Healthcare,

rudimentary ) is often days of trekking.

' not my world ' but where my ' empathies' are..Asher ' my world ' was much much harder than

what you see here. To thank my Creator for what I am now would mean being recreated a million

lifetimes..just to even consider begining to thank Him for His Mercies and Blessings.

As to where my ' empathies ' lie..with those that constantly remind me of my roots. looking

up constantly one looses the gift of Thankfulness. I look straight, avoids neck pain too,

but looking down reminds me to be Thankful. Never to forget my roots. That in and of it

self is one of the biggest Blessings bestowed on me.

Roots? Mine were with cardboard in the windows in the freezing winter and to cover the holes in my shoes. That turns out to be a gift as it opens up ones eyes to where most would not look. However, it creates a terrible conscience when one is so far from that beginning.

Exactly Asher. One should never forget one's roots..especially in circumstances such as ours;

yours and mine.

' creates a terrible conscience '..why? Ayesha and me spend time in circumstances from whence

we came once in a while. Across the globe. Helps us appreciate things that much the better; to

put things in perspective for us. Guilty, no. Thankful, yes and yes again. I guess, for us at least,

it comes down to our beliefs; the way we were raised; the things we value in life and helps

us talk to our grandchildren. To pass on to them our value systems, lest they forget their roots.

Take care Asher.
