This is so beautiful, but if the flowers are “Birds of Paradise” then it might be about 8” long, that’s all!

It looks like a tiny heron with a humming bird beak bent from the heat, LOL!

But does it also catch insects? Nectar is for energy not muscle mass!

I was ONLY fixated on the beautiful picture!

..........Ahah! I see it’s name, it’s a spider hunter and the fuel for flying around comes from the nectar

It's perched on a nice Heliconia sp.


Now I get it. It’s a related but entirely different species, as our own 2 California flowers called “Bird of Paradise” are actually both “falsely” named, as they merely look similar but come from another neighboring classification taxonomical branch!
