The alleys are the same as more than a 1000 years ago. Just some controlled construction..and sat dishes..

While at it, I thought I would go into the marketplace and demonstrate, without all the nerdy maths and circular calculations what to me represents the gradual fading into the out of focus areas. Others give it various names. I just use the lens..

See how the bg melts, gradually. I do need to know the radius or blur circles. Experiment like this with your lens. Leave the nerds to design the lens for you to use.

Believe me, you will learn much..much..more by doing than reading.

Hi Fahim,

Nice images. The borders treatment is very effective in bringing out the sat-dishes which conflict with the old look. Thanks for sharing.

Believe me, you will learn much..much..more by doing than reading.

I'm afraid that's demonstrably not true, although first hand experience can assist the learning process. Without reading we would need to re-invent the wheel ourselves, with reading (or listening to experienced people) we can start with building on the knowledge of others and expand from there, and adapt with our own experience which allows us to learn even more than those who preceded us.

Cheers,
Bart

Thanks Bart for stopping by.

This is what I wrote previously " Believe me, you will learn much..much..more by doing than reading. "

Nowhere have I stated that one should not read. As such, I stand by my previous statement.

Take care.

Fahim,

I have admiration for your natural affinity for using the lens' characteristics to make pictures that excite the bonds between us.

The main experience that I relate to here is the unchanged market through the millenia and the kindness to the eye in having ranked elements of the image in sharp focus or not. It works such that I do not see it as a static cut in time, but can imagine the continued walking and choosing, lingering to see hello to old friends and making new ones. So this picture is gives generously and is so enjoyable to watch, again and again as each time, different stories unfold.

Still, I do have an impression of some flavor of a "put down" for all the enthusiasm of those who try to explain, as infinitum, "the circles of light".

Please clarify ' as infinitum '. Do you mean ' ad infinitum '.? I cannot respond without a proper understanding of what you are implying.
