I took these using a Konica-Minolta 7D with a straight 50mm f/1.7 lens. It was difficult without using a tripod, as I used a very narrow DoF (1.7) Focusing is extremely critical but hopefully soon I will find a nice 100mm macro lens for my Canon.

Aren't these flowers beautiful ??!!

Orchids are amazing.

If I may suggest, you could try using a more diffuse lighting technique (e.g. bouncing your flashlight of a larger white surface close to the flowers). It'll make the shadows smoother and probably maintain better color saturation.

On camera flash

Unfortunately, all I had with me was the camera with its own built in flash.... I should be possibly better prepared next time.

Regards,

Barry.
