My World: Out on the lake

This is where I go to recharge my batteries. Linnansaari National Park on Lake Saimaa in Eastern Finland is quite a unique nature reservoir. It is scattered on a lake archipelago and can only by reached by water.

First Night. Woken up at 4 a.m. This chap was not thrilled to see me.

Linnansaari is one of the most significant nesting areas of ospreys in Finland. This alert lady stayed put, while the male was patrolling the sky to see what I was up to. I left the scene as soon as possible, given the fact I was travelling completely muscle powered.

Thank you all for your nice comments! James, that small island in a serene midsummer evening really answers the possible question "why". Just looking at that sight after a long, hot day on the lake gives me strength to survive the long and cold winter we usually experience up here.
