Painted model

Today Gwendolyn was our guest for a session with paint, although the subject has been done more than enough I like the idea of color and the structure of paint so I decided to make it a free work session.

Here are my favorite shots:

Camera used : Mamiya 645AFD/III with Leaf Aptus back.
Lens 120mm macro and 105-210AF
It's a shame alot of the original color is lost due to the sRGB internet versions, the prints are absolutly stunning.

Model : Gwendolyn
MUA : Esther

Hi Frank,

These are simply a-ma-zing! You've blown me off my socks, especially #3 is a killer. Wow, wow and another wow.

Cheers,

Fabulous concept.

I bet Esther isn't used to working with a palette knife!

For me, the extreme saturation is not appealing (like the large fonts in garish colors in far-right political diatribes I receive by e-mail). But perhaps it is "realistic".

Thanks for letting us see this unique work.

Well to be honest the paint was very saturated, the skin is desatured and that makes the paint pop even more I think.
Although the greens and reds are slightly tweaked :D

WOW AMAZING!

And yes I am always keenly surprised as to how good prints can look as compared to what we see typically online. It is just not the same experience.

these are SWEET!!
i've been reading on how to do this in ps. i haven't attempted it yet, but after seeing these i really want to try it now!! images 1 & 3 i like, #2 the way the cheek paint is done differently, is a little distracting ( but i still like the affects!!).

How do you mean done in PS ?
the paint is 100% real, only the colors are slightly enhanced.

whoa ..... sorry, i misunderstood. i thought when you said "with paint", you were talking about PAINTSHOP..... (blushing).... as in a nickname for the program. sorry.

how in the world did you manage to get the paint thick enough to give that appearance?

The paint we used is so called "fingerpaint" don't know if you have the same stuff over there but it's paint that is used by kids to paint with their fingers, it's very thick from itself.

Oh my this has caused some problems on some forums..... :D
According to some people that mail me or post on forums the paint is fake and whatever I say they will not believe that this is possible with light.
According to one mailer he would only believe me if I showed him 20 shots or more from the session.
I mailed him this screenshot, hope he can now rest assured the paint is NOT fake.

Trust me, IF the paint would have been faked I would be so proud to have done this in Photoshop that I would have mentioned this in the first line :D
You can do alot with light and in this case a Medium Format back.

You have no need to prove your work to such people.

Best regards,

Doug
