It’s fabulous that you are getting macro pictures of fruit tree blossom.

Will, these are great views. A lot of detail and beautiful color.

What did you focus on? It appears that the sepal at the lower part of the flower is in sharpest focus!

I am surprised that at f=7.1, the DOF is narrow.

Has your lens been micro-adjusted for focus?

As you have pointed out to me, the DOF decrease when the lens is so close almost touching the blossom.

Since you have full frame cameras, could you try with one of those so that we don’t have the deleterious effect of the inherent extra magnification of the APS-C sensor of your 7D Mark II!
