Hi Fahim,

Not only precious and priceless but also heart warming and beautiful innocence and wonder. The joy is even greater for a grandparent who is able to look at children without the stresses that act as filters even for the most loving parents. They have the day to day practicalities to have to focus on. Grandparents get to enjoy more, I believe as it's just an overflowing river of lover, joy, appreciation, fun and surprise.

You have not stopped to burn in detail on the face, lighten her hair. We see her just as the moment, posed or not, was captured. What a reward!

Now tell us how this picture came about. Also did you crop it?

Thanks for sharing.

Fahim,

I have been looking more at the picture. Beyond the wonderful child, the composition is interesting so much that I wondered how the direction of gaze might contribute to make the picture work. Surprisingly, flipping the image horizontally seems clumsy. But why? After all as she would be looking from our left to our right which is progress in our culture.

I speculated that this image works well as shown precisely because she has made the effort to look "back" and enjoy what someone else might ignore. But that's simplistic, because in the flipped image one might say she looks to what's ahead. But, unexpectedly, that version loses its magic. So I'm flummoxed!

Of course, we don't ever need to know all the answers as to why something is so beautiful and captivating. I wonder whether or not anyone else feels that the picture cannot be flipped without degrading the effect on us?

For edit and commentary....

I did flip it...it is really a stunning photo in either direction...but Asher, you are right, flipped for me does it. The reason is because we view things from left to right just as we read in our culture. Fahim, lovely, lovely work!

Mike, Cem, Asher..thanks for stopping by.

She is still suffering from jet lag, and came into my room to wake me up for lunch at 2300! The next request ( demand ) was to sleep with me on my side of the bed, which is the right side.

This was followed by a request that I go and fetch her pony. Which I did. Awoken, I took out my
camera and sat on the sofa while she started playing with her pony, like so:

I had shut of the auto review function..the iso was set at 2500 and thus the graininess.
While she jumped, played, hollered, oredered me around, I kept clicking whenever I got the chance.

These were unposed. I have cropped them to try and get rid of the bed and table/lamp as much as
possible. Levels were used to set the dark point to make the headrest almost vanish.

Looking up left to right was because she was on the right side of the bed. besides depending on your
pov, as Asher mentions, left to right is equally valid as going from up to down as right to left..allows
one to be more aware of the opportunities...:) no?

Regards.
