They seem so docile and gentle - until you get too close. I've actually got a picture of when I was charged by a bull elephant, but it was tough to hold the camera steady as you're trembling in your boots!

Tanzania - Serengeti - July - Canon 1-D, 80 mm, 200 ASA, then scanned.
Here's the charging elephant - ears flared, tusks raised, trunk back and ready to start the run. So was I. In fact, I'd already started running. I was happy to leave home without it.
