Raindrops keep falling on my web

Taken this morning from the shelter of my back door. You can see the stair-rods in the image, and although the 300 f4 L may be waterproof, the 50D probably isn't.

As Tom would say, another ****** spider's web!

I wouldn't worry about the 50D too much, I've had mine in some pretty wet conditions and no issues.

I actually read the title to the tune of the song.

Thanks George. I've always been over protective since my friend's 30D died on a wet hillside.

Golden Orb I believe.
Hi Tom,
Just a common garden spider as far as I know. On the full size image you can see the white cross on his back.

Hi Asher,

How they get from tree to tree fascinates me.
The gap is initially bridged by allowing a very fine adhesive thread to drift in the breeze. Once contact is made, the rest is (relatively) straightforward.

They're also obstinate little critters, as Robert the Bruce discovered. I've got one that spins a web across the back door. When I go out I have to remember to make a papal gesture in order to avoid a face-full of web, but sure enough it's back again the next day. Spider to his friend: "You should have seen the one that got away!".

Regards,

Stuart

Hi Stuart, wouldn't worry about the 50D either. I've used mine in pouring rain and -30 C, no trouble what so ever! A great little camera, that is.

I just love pictures about webs and spiders. They are so fascinating, I never grow tired of watching them. Thank you for sharing this, you've done well once again.

Fahim, Maggie and Jarmo. Thank you all for your kind comments.

The lesson to be learned here is that people prefer wet spiders to cute grandchildren. :)

Regards,

Stuart
