Digital backs have lots of promoters who have a religious view that one back is better than another. In fact I doubt that in most cases, back characteristics limit photographers all that much in their price point,
Totally agree. However, there is a difference among the systems with regards to the workflow and time saving which if you agree translates in to time saved is money saved & money saved is like money made, so…… I don’t usually mind working extra hours for the sake of delivering
The right quality product, but working as the BETA tester on the Hardware/Software that I have to CASH US$20,000 or US$30,000 I’m sorry but FORGET IT.
The more money the more resolution and there's great dynamic range in them all.
Money does not bother me as much as the whole process with the DB’s which is exhausting for me when I really need the truth and perhaps more assistance in troubleshooting through their system shortcomings, but of course I have to stay polite and listen to the salesman’s PR talk and then what, I am not sure? Well, as I can see it in SERBIA/Belgrade, Canon is more then enough but in North America/Canada, forget it, or shoot weddings which honestly I don’t have any energy for.
The most integrated MF digital camera is the Hasselblad H3.
You read my mind, but Hasselblad should improve the Flexcolor Software since it could be much, much better or equal compared to Capture One by Phase.
It's lens-sensor combination have been further optimized for performance by adding in camera corrections based on each focal length and the Hasselblad lenses only.
True, very nice and good enough, only for the Architecture/Interiors I am trying to put together ALPA 12SWA System with Apo-Sironar HR 4.0/35mm and Super-Angulon XL 5.6/58mm, only again I have to make sure if I have to deal with cables that are necessary and how many.
Or as an alternative 5x4 Ebony with decent drum scanner or at least Hasselblad/Imacon X5 that is again not far away from Digital Back, then let’s talk about time saving. Large Format is actually in a different league all together, you either like it or you don’t, I personally have a great respect for LF photographers.
Leica has that BTW with the M8 Digital Leica Rangefinder, a magnificent camera.
Love the Idea, Love the concept but the camera it’s self Is a little premature for my understanding at this time, perhaps September 07
Then there are many of last years backs that are being recycled as new backs are acquuired. All are competant and adapters go on most MF camera either through an adapter plate or the Hassleblad.
I decided a long time a go to only go for the new piece, because bad enough that they all miss something, they are proclaimed second hand pieces the minute they live the store and then the list of other issues like replacement unit in 24h in case of emergency, warranty, etc.
The issues you need to define include:
subject
style
resolution required
end use
ammortization cycle
lenses needed
