One of the other violinists in the Colburn Conservatory* pointed out that Kelsey had a great facial profile. So I placed here at the entrance to the corridor to the off-stage area and planned a profile shot. I had to use ISO 6400 to get the skin imaged.

This is just from the jpg, I color corrected and cleaned up. I will repeat this shot with proper lighting. Still, it's impressive to me! :)

WOW!

The Canon 50MM f1.2 L is a great available darkness lens particularly in respect to Auto-focus with the 5DmarkII!

You have caught an angel, Asher
the work is soft yet vibrant yet you manage to catch the delicacy of the young woman and her violin- great connection!

a lovely portrait of a lovely violoncellist.

What disturb me is that plain black BG… I can't imagine that the 6400 ISO did suddenly stop just after that cute model.

And yes the skin color is beautifull!

Nicolas,

Yes she is lovely. It's a violin she is holding. The light did stop suddenly after the girl since there were no objects lt nearby. I am going to retake this picture but under better lighting conditions. just to be clear, it was desired to have a totally dark background. That will allow text for a poster or large banner. The picture was taken at the very beginning of a short dark passageway to the performance stage, itself dimply lit with overhead tungsten light. However, the entrance way was then lit from an angle of about 45 degrees and this appears to have been a good thing.

So, what suggestions would people have for lighting.

Asher
