I wouldn't think they have a great effect, unless they can fly :) In fact I wonder how many new blackberry plants are established by sexual reproduction? Near and mid-range propogation is by means of runners, as in this image previously posted in another thread.

Thanks. What I find amazing is how the snail climbed so high and managed to avoid impaling itself on bramble thorns.

BTW, after I've eaten what I can, I pick the rest and introduce them to a few pints of cheap vodka. It makes a pleasant, warming drink for the long winter months.
