My wife and I crossed the state over to the rural Paloose. Can't believe I've never been there - gorgeous area and lots to photograph.

Magnificent light and a proof that one does not need to go with a "workshop" to take great photographs (I have seen advertisements for workshops in the Paloose a few days ago and wondered why people did not simply drive there on their own...).

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. I almost feel guilty not having gone there after being back in WA for over 20 years - my singleminded pursuit of mountains (with a dash of ocean and deserts) always put it on the back burner.

Nicolas, SE WA, the closest city is Pullman, closest hotel is in Colfax. Jerome, I agree that you can find lots on your own (Steptoe Butte itself is obvious and easy to drive up). I've gotta go back in a different season and explore more of the roads for ground level views.

This alone would have made your effort worthwhile. For me it would mean a new challenge of trying to discover another picture with flowers and such enchanting light and background.

This one picture serves well as the introduction to your series or as the beginning of s new one that's anequally rich and glorious celebration of the beauty of nature.

I'm inspired to wait for more, much more from you and to make the tiling to go there myself to breathe that air!
