Excellent collection so far. Don't worry about what's best just keep going!

I'm inspired by your focus, dedication and real achievement in this series.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Asher.

I have been really inspired with this particular project, inspired enough so that i'm up, on the street and in a tube train by 5.30am. :)
With this project I am not only interested in the statues, but mostly they're environments, too. Also, I like to get a lot of foliage in my images when it's possible. :D

BTW, the wall behind Emperor Trajan is the last remaining part of a Roman wall that once surrounded and protected Londinium. It was built under his rule, so that's why he's there, I guess.

Cheers.

Hi Paul

Many wonderful, arresting photos here. I feel motivated to see how this continues to unfold while your vision and concepts develops over time.

Mixed feeling about the photos with lots of foilage, they are starting to look to me as a subset of this project, something with a common special meaning, beyond the statues itself.

This camera was left here unmanned. I think it was used to film the out-going prime minister and his entourage, driving down The Mall to hand in his resignation to the Queen, something like that, anyway.
I quite liked the analogy between the shape of the camera and the statue beyond, both facing in the same direction. This is an outtake.

Paul,

I think your creative use of the environment within which the monument/statue finds itself is very original and refreshingly different. In some of them, I must admit that the statue is quite small indeed (and that one has to search for the subject of the photograph) but it is clear that they have been carefully composed nevertheless.

Most of them are technically extremely well executed, and darn right pleasant to look at (especially two of the first four). Well done!

This project is developing very nicely. I too appreciate the inclusion of environment and have returned to these a couple times. Your tales of early morning photography inspired me on Tuesday when I was in London for the day, so I got up and out for a short walk along the river taking pcitures first thing. Film is still undeveloped, but thanks.

Thanks for looking and commenting, Dawid and Mike.

Dawid, the size or smallness of the statues in certain scenes is also a response of mine to how we see these things, sometimes they're just glimpsed, if at all in passing. Some are hidden away from direct view. But it is also fun for me to find and use angles like this in my photographs, too. :)

Mike, I think sunrise is at about 5am now. London's squares, parks and green spaces are so congested with people now that summer is here, early morning is the best time to be around.

I'm not sure if anyone has picked up on the humour and irony in the last shot? Remote release, anyone? :)
